The GeoPlant aquasafe HGC product portfolio is the overdue solution package for

  • Overcoming various agricultural application problems of pure superabsorbent polymers (SAP) such as gel formation to be compensated by use of special compressed air devices for mixing SAP with soil etc.
  • using SAP hydrogels for storing and releasing water and fertilizers in the root zones of plants/crops as appropriate for optimum growth and yields at overall most competitive lower costs for farmers
  • regenerating and improving agriculturally used soil in one batch by patented technologies for agglomeration of hydrogel polymers with specially processed biomass particles and tailor-made for major local availablility
  • remaining technologically prepared for substituting currently available synthetic hydrogel polymers with future natural (e.g. starch-based) hydrogel polymers utilizing renewable resources (instead of mineral oil for synthetic, although biodegradable SAP).

PIONEERS IN HYDROGEL POLYMERS + COMPOSITES

 

Hydrogel composites for better growth of whatever plants and in particular: increased agricultural yields for global food security, have been developed in former company frameworks of E+W GREENLAND in Germany, France and Sri Lanka. This work over decades founded and steered by Peter O. Glienke (1943-2015) is continued and promoted for practical applications by the following cooperating companies:

 EFFECTS, MECHANISMS OF ACTION, BENEFITS & APPLICATION

  • Store, retain and release water and fertilizers in the root zone of plants
  • Increase plant biomass above and below ground although saving precious fresh water and costly fertilizers
  • Keep residue of pesticides from above in upper soil layers for degrading into less toxic metabolites, thus protecting groundwater for public health
  • Regenerate and improve soil by optionally integrated, specially processed biomass components in the composites and tailor-made for local conditions
  • Essence 1 of invention/patent EP2307333B1: integrate SAP hydrogels (synthetic or natural superabsorbents) into highly porous, sharp-edged mineral matrix from heated perlite and thus block any moisture/water-induced gel/clumps formation of SAP particles in the soil or in HGC suspensions for concurrent application with liquid fertilizers
  • Essence 2: maximize total surface volume of SAP particles by minimizing particle size for considerably increased absorption and release of water, thus increasing crop yields competitively with less total SAP in the composites compared with pure agro SAP products – but to lower costs and prices
  • Solution 1 for preventing transport and farm workers etc. from health risks related to particular matter: compact fine composite particles (fine granules) – and let them burst following contact with moisture/water not earlier than in the soil or even pre-activate them in suspensions (see above)
  • Solution 2 for optimum biomass binding to HGC particles for equal distribution in the soil/root zones of plants for maximum utilization of natural biomass potentials for humus formation and prevention of soil compaction or capping: numerous biomass processing technologies under patent rights
  • Maintain full water etc. storing/saving effects of otherwise biodegradable (currently available synthetic) SAP in HGC (3-5 years) by HGC maintenance doses with lower SAP proportion at correspondingly lower prices at subsequent occasions of sowing/planting
  • HGC product variants tailor-made for local use with respect to climate, soil and locally available biomass and/or product-finishing facilities for appropriate agglomeration of pre-product master-batches manufactured in Germany or/and with mutually interesting perspectives of licensed complete local production depending on locally available facilities.
